Q. What are the dates of the conference

A. The pre-conference reception is Friday, October 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The conference begins with breakfast at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 14.

 

Q. What is the agenda for the reception?

A. The pre-conference reception features a keynote by Fable the Poet (Marcel Price) and Rachel Gleason, both spoken-word poets. It also includes hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Note: We cannot accept credit or debit cards.

 

Q. Where is the conference being held?

A. Both the reception and conference will be held at the L. William Seidman Center on the downtown Grand Rapids campus of Grand Valley State University. The address is 50 Front Avenue, SW, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

 

Q.  What about parking?

A. There is ample free parking in front of the center on Saturday. Although the parking lot is partially occupied on Friday evening, there is some available space for free parking in front of the center after 5 p.m.

 

Q.  What is appropriate attire for the reception and conference?

A. Comfortable, casual dress is encouraged.

 

Q.  What does registration cover?

A. The registration fee covers the Friday evening reception, the Saturday all-day conference, continental breakfast, and lunch.

 

Q.  Will there be an opportunity during the conference to chat with authors and purchase their books?

A. During the lunch break and between workshops on Saturday you will have the opportunity to chat with authors and purchase books.

 

Q.   What are registration fees?

A. Registration fees listed below. Ready to attend?

  • Early Bird registration (through midnight ET June 30, 2017) is $150. Early Bird registrants will be entered into a drawing to win a Kindle Fire and a complimentary consultation of your choice — writing, editing or marketing — by Splattered Ink Press.
  • Regular registration ( through midnight ET September 30, 2017) is $175.
  • Student registration (through midnight ET September 30, 2017) is $100. Valid student ID will be required at registration.
  • Senior registration for those 65 years and older (through midnight ET September 20, 2017) is $100. Valid ID will be required at registration.

 

Q.  Are high school and college students welcome?

A. We welcome and encourage high school and college students to attend. A reduced registration fee of $100 applies to all students enrolled in high school, community college, state college, or university. Valid student ID will be required at registration.

 

Q.   What is the refund policy?

A. The deadline for canceling your registration and receiving a 50-percent refund is September 15, 2017. After that date, we will not be able to offer any refunds.
